U.S. Clinches a Spot in 2007 FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup by Winning CONCACAF Qualifying Group with 3-0 Record  
ACAPULCO, Mexico (Aug. 11, 2007) - The U.S. Beach Soccer team went 3-0 in the 2007 CONCACAF Beach Soccer Tournament at the Fairmont Acapulco Princess Hotel Beach in Acapulco to qualify for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup 2007 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from November 1-11.

The U.S. opened the tournament with consecutive wins over El Salvador, 9-5, and Costa Rica, 5-3, to clinch a spot in the World Cup, and then rounded out the tournament in style with a 5-4 win over Mexico to win their group. Mexico finished the tournament 2-1 and will also represent CONCACAF at the Beach Soccer World Cup.

The U.S. was led in scoring by Jevin Albuquerque with five goals and Brendon Taguinod with four.

Acapulco is also hosting the the CONMEBOL Championship (South America) at the same time. The tournament is a three-team event with Argentina, Uruguay and Venezuela, with the top two will advancing to the FIFA tournament in Brazil.

After the qualifying tournament, the top three CONCACAF teams will play the CONMEBOL squads in friendlies on Sunday, Aug. 12.
