Symposium to Focus on "Preparation for a World Cup" with
the U.S. WNT's Coaching Staff at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas

CHICAGO (April 5, 2007) – U.S. Soccer will host a coaching symposium at Pizza Hut Park on May 11-12, in conjunction with the U.S. Women’s National Team match against Canada. The two-day symposium will focus on “Preparation for a World Cup” and will feature classroom sessions with members of the U.S. Women’s National Team’s coaching staff and the USA-Canada match.

Coaches attending the symposium can earn up to two CEU credits towards maintaining their “A” license. The symposium kicks off on Friday, May 11, with a USA training session, led by head coach Greg Ryan. In addition to practice, Canadian National Team head coach Even Pellerud and U.S. Women’s National Staff Coach David Rubinson will address those coaches in attendance.

Saturday’s session will feature WNT assistant coach Phil Wheddon on U.S. Soccer’s preparation for the 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup in China. The symposium wraps up with the WNT’s match vs. Canada at 6:30 p.m. CT, which will be broadcast live on Fox Soccer Channel and ussoccer.com’s MatchTracker.

Cost for the symposium is $60 for active-members and $75 for non-members, and includes a ticket to the match. Coaches can become members by joining CoachesNet at ussoccer.com. Membership includes a Nike t-shirt, discounts at U.S. Soccer Coaching Symposia and National Coaching Schools, as well as access to the latest information from the U.S. Soccer Coaching Department via ussoccer.com. Sign-up now at http://www.ussoccer.com/coaches/net/index.jsp.html and receive all the latest coaching insight.

Coaches unable to attend the symposium will have more opportunities to learn from U.S. National Team coaches and earn CEUs as more coaching symposia are scheduled throughout the year in conjunction with the U.S. WNT Send-off Series.
