U-17 WNT assistant coach Mike Dickey posts another journal entry from the World Cup in New Zealand. This addition of CoachesNet Insider examines how the team prepared prior to their quarterfinal match against Korea Republic on Nov. 9. The U.S. plays Germany on Nov.13 at QEII Park in Christchurch in the semifinals. Fans can follow the match live on ussoccer.com’s MatchTracker.
Nothing in the Laws of the Game prevents a player from coaching or a coach from playing. For purposes of these guidelines, the term “coach” will include any team official (coach, assistant coach or trainer, for example). The term “player” includes being a substitute or substituted player.
CoachesNet caught up with U.S. Under-17 Women's National Team assistant coach Mike Dickey during the World Cup in New Zealand. For this CoachesNet Insider addition Coach Dickey shows us the training journal the team used for the first few days in camp prior to their opening match with Japan on October 30, 2008.
U.S. Soccer will host its National Goalkeeping License from Jan. 4-11 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Chula Vista, Calif. The eight-day course focuses on coaches looking to improve their ability to coach, train and integrate goalkeepers into team training.
