In January 2008, FIFA issued a new set of regulations laying out the requirements for obtaining a players' agent license. These regulations require that individual national associations (including the U.S. Soccer Federation) oversee the licensing program.

In accordance with FIFA regulations, U.S. Soccer has developed an application procedure for those interested in obtaining a players' agent license. The license is issued by U.S. Soccer Federation, and certifies that that holder has complied with the applicable FIFA players' agent regulations.
