Development Academy Players Impact 2008 College Cup

Last year, midfielder Matt Kassel was playing matches with the New York Red Bulls U-17/18 team in U.S. Soccer’s Development Academy. Last Sunday, Kassel added a piece of hardware to his collection, after winning the 2008 College Cup with the Maryland Terrapins at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas.

U.S. Soccer has announced the first four winners of the 2008 Best of U.S. Soccer Awards following nearly three weeks of fan voting online at ussoccer.com. Fans can view a special episode of Studio 90 on ussoccer.com, where the winners for Best Specialty Store Store, Best Soccer Bar, Best Soccer Blog and Best Fan Photo are revealed. Studio 90 will be back throughout the week, as eight more winners are set to be unveiled.

As U.S. Soccer’s Development Academy Winter Showcase comes to a close at Lancaster Soccer Center in Lancaster, Calif., all 74 clubs will leave with a better understanding of the Academy’s mission, especially the 12 new clubs that were involved in their first ever Showcase.

Brazil Defeats Australia 4-1 to Conclude Nike International Friendlies

Brazil defeated Australia 4-1 on Monday in Lancaster, Calif. as part of the NIke International Friendlies. The series of matches was being played at the Lancaster National Soccer Center during the 2008 Development Academy Winter Showcase.
