D.C. United won their second Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup title on Wednesday night with a 2-1 victory against the Charleston Battery in front of their home fans at RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C.

The Charleston Battery head into RFK Stadium on Wednesday night looking to be the first United Soccer Leagues team to win the U.S. Open Cup since the Rochester Rhinos in 1999. D.C. United look to win their second U.S. Open Cup title. Kickoff in the nation’s capital is set for 7:30 p.m. ET, and the winner will secure a place in the 2009 CONCACAF Champions League.
The 2008 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup championship will feature a United Soccer Leagues First Division team for the first time since 1999, when D.C. United hosts the Charleston Battery on Wednesday, Sept. 3, at 7:30 p.m. ET at RFK Stadium. The 95th edition of the historic tournament final will be broadcast live on Fox Soccer Channel.
The possible sites and venues for the 2008 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Final have been announced as four teams prepare for the semifinal matches that will take place Tuesday, Aug. 12. Once again, the U.S. Open Cup final will be broadcast live on Fox Soccer Channel.
